In short. We collect what we need to teach you Uzbek and to keep your account working: who you are, how far you have got, and how the app behaves on your device. Speaking practice records your voice and sends it for AI assessment, and nothing else uses the microphone.
We do not sell your data. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app. The sections below give the full detail.
Ibrat Farzandlari LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates Learn Uzbek, a mobile
application for learning the Uzbek language, distributed on Google Play as
ai.learnuzbek.app and on the App Store, together with the website
learnuzbek.ai and our related services (the “Service”).
We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at imnadev@gmail.com.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Learn Uzbek app on Android and iOS and to our website. It does not apply to services operated by other companies that we link to.
To create an account we collect your name, email address and phone number. Depending on how you sign in we also collect a password, which we store only in hashed form. A profile photo is optional.
If you sign in with Google or with Apple, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from that provider. We never receive your Google or Apple password. If you use Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email address, and Apple will give us a relay address instead.
We send a one-time code by SMS to confirm that a phone number belongs to you, and we record that the number was verified.
Questions you ask inside a lesson, posts and replies in community discussions, messages sent during marathons and contests, support enquiries, and any files or images you choose to upload.
If you pay for a subscription or a course through Google Play or the App Store, that purchase is handled by Google or Apple. We receive your subscription status and a purchase identifier — never your card number.
If you pay by bank card inside the app, you enter your card number and expiry date and confirm the payment with a one-time SMS code. These details are transmitted to our licensed payment provider in order to carry out the payment you asked for, and are not used for any other purpose.
Using the Service produces a record of your learning, which is what allows us to show your progress, keep your place, and rank you on the leaderboard. This includes:
Speaking practice and speaking tests require a recording of your voice. When you start a speaking activity and grant microphone access, we record what you say and send the audio to speech-recognition and AI services so that it can be transcribed, assessed, and responded to in conversation. This is the only purpose the microphone is used for; the app does not listen in the background.
Voice audio for speaking activities is processed by OpenAI on our behalf. See section 7 for the full list of providers.
The camera and your photo library are accessed only at the moment you choose to set a profile picture or attach a file. We do not scan or index your photo library.
Collected automatically when you use the app:
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the table below sets out the legal basis on which we rely for each purpose.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and running your account; delivering lessons, exercises and your progress | Performance of our contract with you |
| Recording and assessing your speech in speaking activities | Performance of our contract, and your consent to microphone access |
| Streaks, leaderboards, certificates and learning reminders | Performance of our contract; your consent for push notifications |
| Taking payment and managing subscriptions | Performance of our contract; legal obligation for tax and accounting records |
| Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it | Our legitimate interest in improving the Service, or your consent where the law requires it |
| Diagnosing crashes, preventing fraud and abuse, keeping accounts secure | Our legitimate interest in a reliable and secure service |
| Sending news, offers and marketing messages | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Responding to legal requests and enforcing our terms | Legal obligation; our legitimate interest in defending legal claims |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We use the service providers below, who process data on our instructions:
| Provider | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Google — Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, In-App Messaging, Installations; Google Sign-In | Usage analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, feature configuration, sign-in |
| OpenAI | Real-time speech processing for speaking practice and speaking tests |
| PostHog | Product analytics |
| Meta Platforms — Facebook App Events | Measuring app installs and in-app events |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions and entitlements |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases |
| Our licensed payment provider | Processing bank card payments made inside the app |
| Our hosting and infrastructure providers | Running our servers at api.learnuzbek.ai and storing your data |
We may also disclose personal data where we are legally required to do so, where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets — in which case we will tell you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We are based in Uzbekistan and our providers operate in a number of countries, including the United States and the European Union. This means your personal data may be transferred outside the country where you live. Where we transfer data out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account details and learning history | For as long as your account exists |
| Everything associated with a deleted account | Deleted or irreversibly anonymised within 30 days of your deletion request |
| Voice recordings from speaking activities | Kept only as long as needed to transcribe your answer and produce your score and feedback |
| Crash reports and diagnostic logs | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics events | Up to 14 months, after which they are aggregated |
| Payment and invoice records | As long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them |
You can delete your account and the data associated with it at any time, from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, because the action cannot be undone.
You can also ask us to delete your account by writing to imnadev@gmail.com from the email address registered to the account.
Deletion removes your profile, learning history, streaks, leaderboard entries, uploaded content and voice recordings. We may keep a limited record of payments where tax law obliges us to, and we may keep anonymised statistics that can no longer be linked to you.
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights: to access the personal data we hold about you; to have inaccurate data corrected; to have your data deleted; to restrict or object to how we use it; to receive your data in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these, write to imnadev@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first, so that we do not disclose your data to somebody else.
You can withdraw microphone, camera and photo access at any time in your device settings, and turn off push notifications there or in the app. Some features — speaking practice in particular — will not work without the permissions they depend on.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and you believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
| Permission | Why the app asks for it |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Recording your voice during speaking practice and speaking tests |
| Speech recognition (iOS) | Turning your spoken answers into text so they can be assessed |
| Camera | Taking a new photo for your profile picture |
| Photos and media | Choosing an existing photo as your profile picture, or attaching a file |
| Notifications | Lesson reminders, streak alerts and contest updates |
| Bluetooth | Playing lesson audio through connected headphones or speakers. The app does not scan for or record nearby devices. |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback when you answer an exercise |
| Storage | Saving files you download, such as your certificate |
| Internet and network access | Connecting to our servers to load lessons and save your progress |
Learn Uzbek is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. In some countries the minimum age is higher — 16 in parts of the European Economic Area — and local law applies where it is stricter.
If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to imnadev@gmail.com and we will delete the account and its data.
Data sent between the app and our servers travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Access to production systems is limited to staff who need it.
No service can promise perfect security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority where the law requires it.
Some lessons play video hosted by YouTube, and the app links to our Telegram channel and to other websites. When you play an embedded video or follow a link, the company operating that service receives a request from your device and may set cookies or collect usage data under its own privacy policy. We do not control those services.
We update this policy when the Service changes or the law requires it. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
